How To Obtain CentOS from Duke University

Two step process:

1. Obtain installation (bootable) CD
2. Boot from CD, do installation over network

(Note: you could download the full set of installation CD's and install totally from CD, but it's easier to do a network installation unless you have a dialup internet connection.)

How to Obtain the installation boot CD:

• Centos (version) 5.2 for i386 (32-bit PC) boot cd .iso image

  or

• Centos (version) 5.2 for x86_64 (64-bit PC) boot cd .iso image
• Use CD burning software on the machine you've downloaded to. burning from a CD image (.iso file). Produces bootable CD.
• label cd as: Centos 5.2 boot, Date: mm-dd-yy (i386) or (x64)

Take this CD and boot the machine you want to install on (make sure it's connected to internet).

How to Install CentOS from Duke Univ via network

• network install
• obtain ip automatically (for the build)
• install via http
• url: Centos-5.2 rpm packages (for i386 (32-bit) pc (in CentOS subdirectory)

  or

• url: Centos-5.2 rpm packages for x86_64 (64-bit) pc (in CentOS subdirectory)
