Apple Network Administrator Toolkit (ANAT) / At Ease Installation

This document provides a cookbook for making a Mac be an At-Ease client, Apple Network Administrator Toolkit client, and an Accelerated Reader client.

Note: ==> means "Click" or "Double-click" or "Select" The mac file server in this example is named: GWMAC Where things are stored there may be different on your server.

  1. Find file sharing name of your Mac (set one if it doesn't have one):
    ==>Apple Menu ==>Control Panels ==>File Sharing
    ==>"Computer Name"
     
    Note:
    write this down:  e.g.  M123 or iMac317.
    If there isn't one, then make one up - be sure it is unique in your building.
    You are NOT STARTing up File Sharing on this Mac.)
    
    (Close File Sharing control panel window)
    
    
  2. Connect to Mac file server via Appleshare, login as a privileged user:
    ==>Apple Menu ==>Chooser ==>AppleShare
    
    Select a File Server:  ==> GWMac  ==>OK
    
    Connect to the File Server "GWMac" as:
    
       Unregistered User (guest)
    ==>Registered User
    
    Name:      ==> youradminusername
    Password:  ==>youradminpassw
    
    ==>Connect  ==>GWMac   ==> OK     (Close Chooser window)
    
    GWMac icon should now appear on your Desktop
    
    ==>GWMac  (open - icon on desktop)
    
    From GWMac:
    
  3. Install "Network Administrator
