Adding MS Windows PC to Domain

Windows XP or Windows 2000

(Note:  "==>"  means "click on")


Log in as administrator.

Right-click ==>My Computer
==>Properties
==>Network Identification
==>Properties  
        ("To rename this computer or join a domain click Properties")
==>Domain:  yourdomainname
==>Computer Name:  pcmachinename  (if not set already)

==>OK

Authorization to join domain:

User:  root
Password:  rootpassword

Welcome to yourdomain domain.


You will have to restart your computer to make it active.

Windows 98/ME computers


==>Start ==>Settings ==>Control Panels ==>Network
==>Microsoft Network Client
==>Domain Member   (instead of only "Workgroup")
==>Domain Name:  yourdomainname

==>OK
